Tarot FAQs

Whether you’re brand new to tarot or a lifelong seeker, it’s natural to have a few questions before your reading. Here are some of the most common questions I hear—along with a few gentle truths I’ve learned after more than 25 years of reading the cards.

Do I need to ask a specific question?
Not at all. You’re welcome to arrive with a clear question in mind — or none at all. We can explore a particular issue, or simply ask, “What do I need to know right now?” The cards will meet you where you are.

Can tarot predict the future?
Yes, but not in the way you probably think. Tarot is amazing at showing you your past and present in ways you’ll recognize immediately. Once those are on the table, it’s not much of a leap to see the most likely future, too. You can often decide at a glance if you’d like to stay the course or make changes.

Tarot isn’t about predicting a fixed future—it’s about understanding the energy surrounding you right now, and where that energy might lead if nothing changes. More importantly, it helps you make thoughtful, empowered choices that can shape your future for the better.

What if I get a “bad” card?
There’s no such thing as a bad card—only honest ones. Cards like Death, The Tower, or Ten of Swords may look dramatic, but they’re powerful invitations to release, reset, and rise again. They often bring the most healing, clarity, and growth.

Do you read reversals?
Sometimes! I usually think of them as cards that are acting out for attention. If a reversed card adds depth or nuance, I’ll interpret it that way. But I never use the cards to frighten or shame. Every reading is a safe and supportive space.

Can I ask about other people?
You can ask about your relationships, of course—but we’ll keep the focus on your experience. Tarot is most powerful when it helps you understand what’s in your control, what’s influencing your choices, and how to respond with wisdom and strength.

What will I get from a reading?
Clarity. Confirmation. A fresh perspective. Maybe a little comfort. Maybe a little courage. The cards tend to give you exactly what you need, even if it’s not what you expected.

What if I’ve never had a reading before?
First readings are often the most powerful, because you’re stepping into a conversation with your higher self for the very first time. You don’t need to prepare. Just show up with an open heart.

Still curious?
I’d love to read for you. Whether you’re facing a decision, asking for insight, or just drawn to the magic of the cards, your tarot session is a space for calm, clarity, and connection.
